Galleries and Museums

There’s much more to the Shire than visiting stunning beaches and admiring natural beauty. Culturally-minded visitors will find plenty of treats on offer, from galleries and theatre to live music and cinema.

No visit to the region is complete without a tour of Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre in Gymea. The centre incorporates an art and community gallery, theatrette, café and gift shop, plus art studios off ring art courses and live entertainment.

Across the water, the Bundeena-Maianbar Art Trail, which is held on the first Sunday of each month between 10.00am and 4.00pm, gives art lovers the opportunity to visit the studios of many local artists. Talk to the artists, see their work evolving and snap up a bargain. Don’t miss the Bundeena Picture Gallery where artists Doris Kaminski and Robert Wilson display their work. The gallery is open on weekends only.

Sydney Tramway Museum

Ride a Bondi Tram! Recreating an era of city and suburban passenger transport of 100 years ago, this hands-on museum provides enjoyment for young and old. Explore the collection of many trams from throughout the world in the Display Hall. Which includes the only purpose built prison tram in the world, which ran between Darlinghurst Court House and Long Bay Gaol from 1909 to 1949. Also explore lots of photographs and memorabilia from the tram era!

Wanda has made her home at Bundeena, NSW Australia in the Royal National Park and is a Member of the Bundeena & Maianbar Art Trail. Wanda is Number 11 on the Trail where her Art Studio is open to the Public on the 1st Sunday of every month from 10am-4pm and also by Appointment. Her primary medium is watercolours and also enjoys Acrylic on Canvas. She describes her art as unbound, organic and bold.
